About the project
The Active Youth project is part of the Key Action 1 - Youth Participation Activities of the Erasmus+ program.
Needs

Elucidate young people about their role in society; •

Elucidate young people about the different forms of participation;

Boost the involvement, connection and empowerment of young people in the social, civic and democratic sphere;

Promote equal opportunities for democratic and social participation, dialogue and decision-making;
Goals
Main goals:
Encourage community involvement and the civic and democratic participation of young people.
Specific goals:

Develop skills in young people so that they can be active in the decision-making process and active participation in society;

Make young people aware of the opportunities existing in society, namely those that encourage their empowerment and participation;

Sensitize young people to the importance of having a role and an active voice in society;
-
Enhance the action and voice of young people in the construction of Europe, as active agents in positive change and solidarity (which includes the creation of their own projects and ideas in the social, community and democratic sphere).
Project Activities
Preparation activities

Dates: from June to August 2023

Location: Águeda, Portugal
Preparation activities for project participants that are taking place in the various schools in the municipality, with the following objectives:

Preparation for participation in the Erasmus+ program and in the project;

Detailed presentation of the project and exploration of the needs, results and impacts to be achieved;

Individual and joint reflection, sharing and debate between young people and the project team;

Initial co-creation of work based on the themes, priorities and objectives of the project
Training Activities

Dates: September to July 2023

Location: Águeda, Portugal
Sessions to explore the theme of youth participation, using the Youth Participation Toolkit. These sessions aim at regular monitoring of young people and aim to allow young people to:

Develop their key skills and learning within the scope of youth participation;

Introduce young people to different tools and methods for active participation in society;
-
Exchange ideas and experiences with other young people;
-
Reflect together;
-
Plan and co-build projects/actions/campaigns/movements that activate their participation, based on the lessons learned
Funding and support
Erasmus+ Youth/Sports National Agency and ESC
Active Youth is a project funded by the National Agency Erasmus+ Juventude/Desporto and ESC.
The National Agency Erasmus+ Youth Sport and ESC is the mission structure that aims to ensure the management, in Portugal, of the Erasmus+ Program in the fields of youth and sport, as well as ensuring the management and execution of activities within the European Solidarity Corps program . It also coordinates the Eurodesk information network in Portugal. AN Erasmus+ Youth Sports and ESC supports Youth Exchanges, European Volunteering, International Training, Strategic Partnerships and Structured Dialogue events. Provides support and information in the dimension of Sport and to the Erasmus+ European Solidarity Corps.
